Transhipment at sea is prohibited and shall be allowed only subject to authorization and at a designated port under the control and inspection of the competent authority of that port State and/or an authorised fisheries inspector of Belize.
Only in cases of force majeure may transhipment at sea be authorized, provided that an authorized observer monitors the transhipment or in cases where it can be ascertained that an effective transhipment program is in place.
Transhipment at sea regulated by an RFMO may also be authorized at the discretion of the BHSFU.
Pair trawling, relocation activities and fishing operations involving joint actions by two or more vessels shall not be considered transhipment unless during the aforementioned activity, fish is transferred from one vessel to another.
The activities of all authorized transhipment activity shall be reported to the BHSFU.
